Make Arrangements for Baptism
Parents should contact the Rectory 516-541-3270 at least one month prior to the preferred Baptism date. Baptisms are offered on the second and fourth Sunday of the month at 1 p.m.
Baptism Prep Class
This course is required for couples seeking to baptize their first child and is held in the main Church on the second Sunday of each month after the 10:30 a.m. Mass. The class provides vital information to couple, godparents, and those who wish to attend. For more information, contact the Parish office or Deacon Fred at 201-481-0800.
Each family is expected to have already contacted the Parish Office for a registration form (that they may bring with them, leave at the rectory office, or complete at the session). Sessions are typically under an hour. The forms must be returned to the office before the scheduled Baptism date, unless otherwise approved to bring them to the Baptism. After the Rite, the presider signs and returns the registration form to our office for preparation of a baptismal certificate.
The godparents chosen must be confirmed Catholics and at least 16 years of age, who lead a life of faith in keeping with the Church and her teachings. Exceptional circumstances of a godparent should be discussed with a priest prior to the Baptism.
Make Arrangements for Weddings
To allow time for adequate preparation, at least six months in advance of the wedding date the prospective bride and groom should call the Rectory at 516-541-3270 to make an appointment to discuss details of the wedding with one of the priests or deacons. A Pre-Nuptial Investigation (PNI) form needs to then be completed during a face-to-face meeting with the Priest or Deacon who will perform the ceremony. A one-day Marriage Preparation (Pre-Cana) class then needs to be completed.
Pre-Cana Program
This class, designed for engaged couples seeking a Sacramental marriage, is required by the Church and available at Our Lady of Lourdes. Inter-faith couples are welcome. Couples that are planning to wed within six months are encouraged to schedule our ONE DAY Saturday class and register on-line (several dates are available throughout the year).
The class consists of an 8-hour interactive discussion, focused on the teachings of the Church, practical expectations in the Sacrament of Marriage, and exercises to help deepen the couples’ understanding of love. The program is facilitated by several married couples, along with guest speakers, and has developed into a very popular and sought after program. Wedding rehearsals normally take place on a Friday, but may be otherwise scheduled by the directors. Couples must contact the Parish office at least two weeks in advance to make these arrangements.

Pre-Cana Course
Description of Our Lady of Lourdes Pre-Cana
Pre-Cana is an 8-hour one-day explanation of the teachings of the Catholic Church on the Sacrament of Matrimony offered by a priest and married couples from our parish. Several courses are held throughout the year on Saturdays from 9 am to 5 pm. Bring your lunch (We’ll store it for you in our refrigerator until lunchtime.).

The fee for each couple is $200.

Please Note: If for any reason you can no longer attend the date for which you signed up, and if you are unable to attend any of the other Pre-Cana classes on the dates offered, you will be given a refund, minus an administrative fee of $25. If the parish must cancel the class on the date for which you have registered, a full refund will be issued.
Make Arrangements for Funerals
Arranging for a funeral can be overwhelming. We will do all that we can to help you to truly celebrate the life of your deceased loved one. Once you meet with a funeral home, they will contact Our Lady of Lourdes to schedule the date and time of the Mass.
They will also share the dates/times of the wake so that a member of our clergy can come and lead a prayer service. Additionally, they will provide materials (as in the links below) that allow you to select readings and hymns for the service, and your choices will be shared back with the Parish.
Make Arrangements for Sick Calls
Those who are homebound.
Parishioners who are sick can receive the Eucharist from one of our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. Priests are also available for the celebration of the sacrament of Reconciliation (confession) and the sacrament of Anointing of the Sick. Arrangements can be made by calling the Rectory at 516-541-3270.
Those who are in the hospital
All hospitals on Long Island have priests who are assigned there to offer sacraments to a family member who is hospitalized. In emergency situations (especially if the last rites are needed), these priests can be contacted through the nurse’s station or chaplain’s office.
